Life is too short to waste; it is too easy to waste. One minute you’re in kindergarten, the next, you’ve started working. Without knowing it, you have a family, and then it’s done. Life is over. Where did it all go? Did you do what you were meant to? Did you achieve your purpose? Life is a test and it’s a very short exam. I think that the way to live it is to make short one day goals and just try to reach those goals every day. Once you do that, then everything in life will feel like a success.
Every night before going to bed. I make one goal for the next day. It ranges from countless possibilities. My goal for today is to write an awesome blog. I’m already trying to complete that goal this early in the morning. This leaves me with endless opportunities for the rest of the day. Yesterday, my goal was to score a goal against my old team, and I did. Tomorrow, my goal might be to do something nice for someone. The day after, my goal could be to not have junk food. There is an infinite number of dreams that we can aspire to. They don’t have to be big goals like ending world hunger. In fact, I think it’s better to have small, simple goals that eventually build up to something much, much bigger.
There’s a simple science to keeping small goals compared to bigger ones. Firstly, they are much easier to achieve. They are small enough to be done in a day, even an hour. They are simple enough that you could do them by yourself. They are important enough that they complete your day.
There is no meaning in life without a purpose. What would you think about someone who says that “once I wake up, I’m going to go to work, come home, eat dinner and then go back to sleep”. I don’t know about you, but personally, I would feel embarrassed about who I am if that was how I described my life. We are all much more than that. We are all special individuals. Wouldn’t this sound so much better, “once I wake up, I’m going to go to work, come home, write a story, eat dinner and then go back to sleep”. There’s just a small addition in there, “writing a story”, but it opens up a whole new world. This person is not just living to die but to share what is in their head with the rest of the world. This person has a reason to wake up in the morning.
the best part of finishing one dream, is that you get to pursue another
If we give ourselves a really big goal, it gets hard to achieve. The longer you take to achieve it, the worse you start to feel. You start getting negative thoughts about what would happen if you were never able to achieve it, about you failing life, about you letting down yourself. However, if you make small goals, you will feel like you did something with your life, every single day. This will make you much happier person. This will give you the energy, the enthusiasm, the desire to do more, to keep going, to never stop. Remember, life is too short to waste; it’s too easy to waste, so don’t waste it. Do something, even if it’s a small goal, especially if it’s a small dream. I don’t know if someone already said this before or not (I feel like I heard it somewhere but can’t remember where), but, “the best part of finishing one dream, is that you get to pursue another”.
